2 Year Old Check Up

Will had his two year old check up a couple of weeks ago, and I forgot to add the stats to the blog. Will is 34 inches tall and he weighs a whopping 22 lbs 4 oz. Yes, he is still a skinny little kid. His height is only in the 25th percentile, while his weight is completely under the charts. The only thing that makes the doctor happy is that his weight is consistently under the charts and has "grown" with the curve. The strange thing is that his head is in the 75th percentile. I guess he gets that from his daddy..... The doctor told me that as long as his brain is growing he seems to be getting the nutrition that he needs. He is just a very active little boy that burns a lot of calories. He also had a hemoglobin test and he passed with flying colors. That makes me feel good, because I really try to have him get the nutrition that he needs as he grows.

The frustrating thing about having a child that is so small is that the doctors think that you don't feed them. I constantly get the questions like, "What does he eat?" "Does he drink milk?" "Does he eat meat?" "Do you feed him?" I have to say that I think Will is a great eater. For instance, this morning he had two cinnamon rolls (a special treat), a bowl of apple sauce, and a glass of milk for breakfast. Last night he had two servings of rice, some chicken, and carrots for dinner (with MILK of course). We finished the night off with a homemade milkshake before bed. He will eat just about anything and fruit is his favorite. I steer away from the junk food, mostly because I don't want it in the house because I'll eat it! For snacks he eats yogurt, graham crackers, fruit, animal crackers, goldfish, etc. I've found that if he eats a lot of sugar he doesn't sleep well and he gets so crabby. I don't want to deny him junk food, so he eats it on special occasions (hence the cinnamon rolls this morning), but I can always see behavior issues when his sugar intake is up!
