Last night Will and Joe ran in the Midsummer's Night Run here in Lexington. We had a great time. We met our friends Stephen, Janie, and Nathan downtown around 6:00. Will's race was at 6:30. All of the kids got t-shirts and an official number tag to wear on their shirts. Will was very excited, but quiet. There were a lot of people downtown and it was overwhelming. Joe took Will to the "starting line" for all the 2 year old boys. I stood on the side to take pictures with Nonnie, Will's grandma. When it was time for the 2 year old boys to run, I could tell that Will was not sure about the whole thing.
I asked Connie to take the pictures and I went to the finsh line to help prod him to finish. Nathan was right beside him. The race was off. Nathan saw me and came running, but Will started crying and ran back to Joe. Joe got to run the race with Will and he finished! He eventually saw me and ran to the finish line. Kids are so funny. Will keeps talking about his day and how he ran in a race. He said that it was fun and he wants to do it again.
After the race we waited around for the 5K. Joe and Stephen (Nathan's daddy) ran in the 5K. It didn't start until 8:30, so we had a long time to sit around. Thankfully (for us) a man got stuck up in a cherry picker while he was putting up the sign to signal the finish line. They had to call the fire department to get him down. That was very exciting to see the arial ladder on the fire engine go up and rescue the poor man.

Joe and Stephen did a great job running! It was so exciting to see them coming through the finish line with all the other runners. Will was so excited that daddy ran in the same race. We will definatley do this again next year. We told Will that next year his little brother or sister will be able to cheer him on as he runs! How exciting.
