Uncle Jared and Aunt Len

Last weekend my Uncle Jared and Aunt Len came to stay at my house. We had lots of fun together! My Aunt Len loved to push me on my swing. We went really high! I love to play outside on my swingset and in my sandbox. They even watched me run through my sprinkler. I don't know why they didn't want to come get wet with me.... Their friends came over to my house one day at lunch time and they went to eat out. One of their friends had a baby. I liked the little baby. It was nice to have my Uncle Jared and Aunt Len at my house. After we took them to the airport, I kept asking where they went. My mommy said they went home to Denver. I'm looking forward to seeing them in August. We're flying to Denver to celebrate my cousin Bradley's first birthday. I'm really lucky because I'll be able to see my Uncle Jared, Aunt Len, Uncle Paul, Aunt Kristy, Cousin Bradley, Grandpa, and Grandma all in one weekend! That will be fun!

Memorial Day

Yesterday was a very exciting day for Will. Will woke up around 8 am (thank goodness.... He usually wakes up with the sun around 6:15-6:30) and we came downstairs for a big bowl of cheerios and some cantaloupe. After breakfast Will and I headed off to the grocery store to stock up on food for the week. Will loves to go grocery shopping for many reasons. First, he loves to drive the car carts (I think he thinks that he's really driving!). Second, he loves to help me pick out produce. This is an excellent way to boost his vocabulary. He can say cantaloupe and now he can say watermelon (he gets all of the syllables, too). At first he called the watermelon a "big cantaloupe," but now he can name it correctly. After we left the grocery store, we headed off to Starbucks to get daddy his "milk" - Will called it that because I asked for skim milk. He was very proud to give that to daddy when we got home.

Joe took Will outside to play on the swings while I finished working in the kitchen. I was making Lemonade Pie ..... Grandma (or G-mama to Will) Osmundson's recipe. It was so hot that Joe and I decided to let Will play in the sprinkler. He wasn't to wild about it at first. Will was enjoying watching his daddy run through the water and make silly noises and faces. Eventually, Will decided that it was great fun to get wet! We even put Ella under the sprinkler for a while. She did not like that!

When Will woke up from his nap, we picked up Papa John and Diddy on our way to Winchester. Nick (Papa John's brother) and Mel (Nick's wife) are in town and we thought it would be fun to visit them. We got to see Nick, Mel, Chris, Pat, Tommy, Mike (Will's godfather), Johnny, and Cade. Cade is Johnny and Jolie's little boy - he's 2 1/2. Will and Cade had a great time playing together. Will loved playing golf with his cousin. Cade has a great swing and Will loved to go chase the balls after Cade hit them. They both got to practice putting on Tommy's putting greens and Will wouldn't even stop to eat. He just wanted to play outside. That was a shame, because it's not everyday that you get dinner at Pat and Tommy's house! We got home really late and Will was exhausted. We figured Will would sleep in the next morning, but he's up early! We're off to the pool again today!

The pool is open!

Well, today marked the first day that we could go swimming at the public aquatic center. We arrived at 10:00 (the official opening time) to find out that today the pool did not open until 12:00. So, we went to the park and played for a while before lunch. After dinner, Joe, Will, and I went back to the pool. There were not many kids there at 7:00! The water was very cold and Will is not use to cold water. He takes swimming lessons in the therapy pool at the YMCA, and the pool is always very warm. Will cried a lot at the pool (I think because it was so cold), but he did manage to go down a couple of slides. It's nice that he can walk the whole length of the kiddie pool and climb all the water equipment. His favorite water activity was the frog slide, though he wouldn't go down it alone. He started climbing the stairs and then he stopped. He turned around and told Joe that they were wet. I guess he didn't think they should be, even though they were in the pool. After playing in the kiddie pool, we let Will play in the playground area. I know that was his favorite part of the evening. I guess that he will get use to the pool (I hope so because we bought a season pass....). After the pool we went to Dairy Queen for milkshakes and Blizzards. What a fun day!

My Friend Kaitlyn

Last Wednesday my friend Kaitlyn came over. Kaitlyn lives next door to me and she has an older sister named Katherine. Kaitlyn just turned 3 and Katherine just turned 6. I love to play with the girls next door. We play every afternoon that it isn't raining. We swing, play in the sandbox, draw with chalk, ride our bikes, and play with balls. Kaitlyn came over to spend time with me because her mommy had to go to Katherine's school. Kaitlyn is lots of fun. We did lots of great things together, like playing with my cars, coloring, and Kaitlyn even uses the potty. That was very interesting to me. I even tried to use the potty just because I wanted to be like Kaitlyn. My mommy was proud of me. I was sad when Kaitlyn had to go because she is fun to play with. I love playing with all of my friends! (Notice in the picture that I'm still in my pajamas. I love to wear my pajamas and I never want to take them off!)

Mother's Day

For Mother's Day this year I wanted to go to the Cincinnati Zoo. We woke up early (which isn't something different around here) and headed off to Cincinnati. The high today is 52 and the forcast called for rain all day long. After driving through the rain, we decided to head to the Newport Aquarium instead. An indoor activity sounded a little more appealing. Will loved seeing all of the fish, frogs, turtles, lobsters, crabs, and even jellyfish. We got to see a diving show and visit all of the animals while we were there. We took a break for lunch and went to Jonny Rockets. After lunch we got to see the sharks, otters, birds, alligators, and penguins. Will loved the penguins and annouced that they were his. I guess he wanted to take them home. Maybe next time. Enjoy the pictures and Happy Mother's Day!

Will and mommy checking out some fish.

Will and Daddy looking at the otters. Will loves otters and he calls them owahs.

Will and Daddy looking at some crabs. They were allowed to touch them, but Will was a little unsure about touching them.
Will and Daddy looking at fish. We had just arrived at the aquarium. Notice Will's shirt...
Will and Daddy enjoying the penguins.
Look at that big snake!
I don't think Will liked that bird being so close...
Enjoying lunch (and a milkshake) at Jonny Rockets.

What a trip. He slept the whole way home.

Just pictures

I've taken a couple of pictures that I thought were cute - so I want to post them. Of course - our two children Will and Ella. Will loves to pose for pictures with Ella and I thought this one was cute!

Will is getting attached to various items and he wants to sleep with them. This week (since Will's had croup) he's been a little more attached to his security items. This particular afternoon he had to have all of them. Blankie (the favorite since, well, since forever), Yellow (a favorite since Easter), and Mouse (was a Christmas present, but he just recently had to add it to his sleeping collection - I don't know why).

Last night Will and I went to Toys R Us to play with the train sets there. Joe has a Men's Bible Study on Thursday nights, so Will and I usually do something fun. Strangely enough, there were no trains at the train tables. Poor little Will went to the trains that you can buy and asked me to open them. He seemed okay with the answer that we couldn't open it unless we bought it and he put it back. Feeling sorry for the little guy, I bought him a t-ball set. We were going to get him one for Easter, but he got a trike instead. He likes the t-ball set better. He loves anything having to do with sports. Enjoy the pictures -

Our Little Artist

Yesterday Will and I had some time to kill before his 11:30 doctor's visit, so we went to Target. Will needed a new toothbrush and some toothpaste, so we headed off to the store. It's a bad thing for me to "kill time" in Target, because I end up spending money. While I was there I realized that I wanted to get Will some finger paints. I figured he was old enough to finger paint and I thought that he would love it. We bought the finger paints and then headed off to the doctor's office.
Dr. Ison told me that Will has croup again. Lovely. Will got to pick if he wanted a red steroid or a brown steroid (berry or chocolate). He chose red. The best thing is that he only needed one dose and they gave it to him in the office. No trip to the pharmacy. No wait at the pharmacy. No need to take medicine at home. How Wonderful! Will is feeling much better and his cough is loosening up!
Joe and I had Will do some finger painting last night. It was fun to watch him approach the paint very cautiously, not really sure what to do with it. After we showed him how to finger paint, he loved it! He kept asking for more "red" or "blue" or "green" or "yellow" and showing us where he wanted it. As you can tell from looking at the pictures, Will feels much better. After we were done it was time for a bath and bed. Since no one really slept the night before, it was a night of early bedtimes.

OOPS

Joe was looking at our family blog last night and he mentioned that I hadn't blogged since the end of April. OOPS. I really haven't taken pictures since then, so I didn't have anything to blog. Today Rebekah and Jack were suppose to come over, but Will has a very bad cough (similar to the time he had croup) and we have to go to the doctor. I was planning on posting pictures of Will playing with Jack today, but that will have to happen another time. I do have this cute picture that was taken a while back when Janie and Nathan watched Will for me one morning. I had a MOPS DG meeting and I thought Will would have more fun playing with Nathan than sitting in child care. When Will and Nathan get together then are constantly learning about sharing. This is one way they share the ride on toy. It is really cute to watch them because after one gets to drive for a while they will switch positions. We don't even have to tell them! Well, that's my post for the day. Hopefully I'll take some more pictures soon.
